All that is about to change when Tesla starts taking reservations for its Model 3 Tesla electric car, priced at $35,000 before incentives. According to Bloomberg Business, .”..these tax incentives can knock off as much as $10,000 from the cost of purchase….” Pretty incredible!

1. Insanely ludicrous acceleration.
In Insane Mode (that’s really what it’s called), Model S P85D can go from 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds. In Ludicrous Mode, the P90D goes from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds.

With Autopilot, the Model S Tesla electric car is almost completely self-driving.
3. Dynamic dual motors.
Tesla cars’ dual motors are like all-wheel drive on steroids, with separate motors for the front and rear wheels. This gives it incredible traction control in addition to crazy-fast acceleration.
4. Incredible range.
Depending on which model you’re driving, Tesla cars get anywhere from 240-257 miles EPA on a single charge.
5. The Gigafactory.
Elon Musk has said, “I would like to die on Mars. Just not on impact,” and he’s definitely making sci-fi fantasy a reality. The mammoth Gigafactory in the Nevada desert is under construction and slated to begin mass producing lithium ion batteries in 2017.
6. There’s an Underwater Mode.
The car can’t really function underwater but there’s a hidden Easter egg in the Model S that turns the on-screen car in the dash display into James Bond’s Lotus Esprit S1 submersible car when you type in 007.
7. No ignition key; no starter button.
When you get in and close the door, the car starts. When you put it in Park and get out of the driver’s seat it turns off. Wow.
8. The Tesla mobile app.
Now you can control and monitor your car right from your smartphone with the Tesla mobile app. It allows you to unlock and start the car without a key, preheat or cool it and locate the car if you forgot where you parked.
9. The Model X has “Falcon Wings”.
The Model X, the SUV version of the Tesla electric car, officially makes the family wagon cool. The doors are hinged on the roof and open vertically (creating a falcon wing shape) for easy access to all of the seats.
10. Tesla cars aren’t sold in dealerships.
You can only buy a Tesla car at a Tesla store. Luckily there’s probably one near you.
